Dealing with Fundamentalism. 1. Set boundaries 2. Agree to disagree 3. Try to move past the anger and hate because it will cause you plenty of stress and discomfort. 4. Compartmentalize so you can better respond to such issues. 5. Remind them you are their neighbor and they have to love you…Works almost all the time. (Use some texts against them to ward them off.) 6. Be sure to love yourself and have self confidence in your decisions and like them, stick to it. 7. Make sure you educate yourself on fundamentalism so you can know how it works and why, to better confront issues that may arise. A good website www.rickross.com. This is a database of religious groups and cults that made it into the news (mostly negatively). It also deals with fundamentalism and other issues. Much of the psychological issues, when leaving or dealing with fundamentalism are the same issues those in cult deprogramming have. Cult info may be helpful also. 8. Find people to support you in your decisions.

Hi Wayman.
I attend lots of funerals and weddings as a paid musician.
As an atheist, it sickens me the way that preachers at such events often know nothing about the person, and use the event as a recruiting tool for their church. I understand that theists do what they know, but it is very disrespectful.
I am disappointed by non-religious people who use a religious person to be the speaker at such events, just because they can’t be bothered finding alternatives.
Congratulations. You have come to a very mature and loving place in your quest for the Divine. Christ’s message was one of love and compassion. One of my favorite quotes is, “A saint is a sinner who never gave up.”
I’m personally convinced that there’s a Higher Intelligence. I’ll leave it at that but religion is sometimes the perfect vehicle for whackjobs who use it as an opportunity to remove the mote in others eye before they remove the BEAM in their own.
Wayman if a funeral is not the place to think about death then when is. If someone is convinced that you are going to hell then it is expected that they will preach at you. It is your attitude that is uncaring.
I’m sending people your way wayman. I haven’t missed this, or any, of the video responses.
I hope this helps her. It may.
Makes sense to me
