“Christian nuts”–Nut being the operative word here. In the early sixties, Jones admitted he was an athiest adopting the cloak of a christian in order to rid the people of the “opiate of religion.” Ironic, but coldly calculated. I am not a christian. That is not where I am coming from; but as far as I can see the harm from Jones came when he convinced others to go against the tenets of the Christian religion –and most other religions for that matter.
Jim Jones was NOT a Christian, he thought HE was God. Don’t equate what he did with Christianity. What he did was NOT biblical Christianity according to the Gospels. He used the name of Christ for his sick agenda

So, denounces the Bible as oppressive, and then claims there was no heaven except what people made on earth and THEN he goes and pretty much equates himself with God. Oh, and THEN there’s 7:59. And everybody is homosexual except him? O.o Oh, yes, this sounds like “Christ’s love” all right. What BS. I hate it when people like him use Christ as an excuse to do whatever they want and manipulate people. It’s sick.

that sadly is the “game” in most southren style churches…its kinda of a cliche in baptist & methodist churches..you can see it being translated in movies & tv shows as comdey skit..its pretty sad..but its nothing new. (NOT ALL CHURCHES!!)
Why go through the trouble of faking a criple’s healing? There was clear intention within all of this. It can’t be dismissed as the actions of a lone maniac like many other significant events of that time. This was definately a study in human control and vulnerability.
Why do people keep thinking this wasn’t religious, simply because ‘he criticized Christianity’.

i had a boyfriend that was just like jim jones, no joke. he started talking about he wanted to be a pastor. he was talking crazy. it was so long ago i cant remember all the crazy stuff he said to me, he believed every crazy thing he said, he”ll take sayings out the bible and make it what he wanted it to be. at the end of our relationship when i couldnt take no more of his craziness i found out he abused drugs, etc. nig was crazy put me in the mind of jim jones. his personality was like jim jones
