I lol’d so hard when you pulled out the Curious George book! XD
There is no proof of Jesus outside the Bible.
In fact a large part of the Jesus myth is derived from other stories of the time, sorry.
@Ritsaart – I have not met any “christians” who try to prove the existence of god by saying they have a “historic document” called the bible that says so. do you realize that you’re just making fun of yourself? how embarrassing.
@Ritsaart – You have 4 stories, written by man and then rewritten by other men, then translated and rewritten again and again. There are fables that are thousands of years old, some older than the bible. Do we say these are true because I have them written on paper? If so, I have historic documents that prove Santa Claus is real. Bottom line: Your argument is weak and doesn’t even make sense. Stop embarrassing yourself please.
No that is not what is going on. I have got historic documents which testifie of Jesus’ life. These documents are the 4 Gospels.
Now I believe that these documents are true. They are very detailed and do not directly contradict each other. So I got 4 pieces of historical evidence for Jesus’ life and resurrection.
Now if there is solid evidence hat these documents are fake or that Jesus did not excist, show me. Because I want to know the ”bad parts”.
Hi Paul
I always use the “do you believe in Santa claus” argument. Why do parents let their kids grow up to learn Santa is not real but tell them that some guy with super physics altering powers is, not only real but, is god too???
@iEmy4ever – No, I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic schools, received baptism, confirmation, etc. When I was in college I studied religion… not just Christianity either. We studied all religions. So, with a solid Christian background, having parents who still attend church regularly, etc., I feel that I am more than capable of drawing my own conclusions and have way more credibility than some Atheist with no religious background. Hope that answers your question.
Bad ones… “Taking the good things, leaving out the bad,” is how confirmation bias works. It basically means you’re only willing to agree with things that already agree with the way you think.
I will not give you any evidence against Jesus’ life as the information is out there. This goes back to that confirmation bias, which is why I’m assuming you’re not willing to look, so why indulge you so you can swipe it all away by simply disagreeing. If only it were so simple.
What bad ones? Give me any solid evidence against Jesus’ life.
Ancient history is never really clear. The life of Jesus and they early Christians is very well documented. Compare it to other events in ancient history, the story of Jesus’ life and resurrection is very well documented.
The 4 Gospels are historic books. Of course they containe supernatural events. Which would make an atheists denie them.
Come to Christ! He will give you the answers of life! He is the true bread from Heaven.
Sorry no. There are NO, I repeat, NO historians that lived during Jesus’ lifetime that mention him. The first known mention of him is either by the apostle Paul or by a man named Josephus. Paul’s books are said to have been written around 50 AD and Josephus wasn’t even born until 37 AD.
It is not “well documented”, it is not even close to proven. There is simply this huge confirmation bias surrounding anyone’s faith. Take the bits that sound good, leave the bad ones out- right?
exist.
Bible = bronze age book of superstition.
Paul Prada, just out of curiousity, were you raised Atheist? Did you ever believe in a higher power at any point in your life? I’m not judging or anything, I’m just wondering. Peace out.
–Emy
”YES, duh! Are you serious? Of course any historical event could be made up unless there is PROFF it happened. Most historic events are photographed, where is the photograph of the Red Seas parting? Oh, no cameras back then?”
Sorry that is not true. And a picture can prove something but can still be made up (people posing etc.).
Ancient history is different from modern history. How can you be so ignorant towards history. I have not met any atheists who made such ridiculous claims.
”ECCLESIAISTES 1:5: “The sun also ariseth” – Flase. We have proven the sun doesn’t move up and down, THE EARTH DOES.”
You say I am dumb?! I cannot believe this. The rising of the sun is not meant literal! People nowadays use it!. And also the earth does not rise. It turns around the sun. It moves up and down a little. This is a clear example of absolute ignorance.
Genisis is not meant too literall I think. Nobody knows how the earth was made. So I dont want to base anything on that.
@Ritsaart – “By your definition ANY historical event could be made up.” – Umm, YES, duh! Are you serious? Of course any historical event could be made up unless there is PROFF it happened. Most historic events are photographed, where is the photograph of the Red Seas parting? Oh, no cameras back then? What a surprise. It’s funny *and sad) that you people truly think this stuff is real. You;re like little kids. The bible was mean to be a moral code, a way to control people. Wake up people!
@Ritsaart – Take these: GENESIS: God created man 6,000 years ago. False, scientific evidence proves man has existed for at least 150,000 years.
ECCLESIAISTES 1:5: “The sun also ariseth” – Flase. We have proven the sun doesn’t move up and down, THE EARTH DOES.
The earth is not flat, nor is it the center of the universe as the Bible states.
We could go on, and on, and on with this. Just because these things were written by multiple people in the Bible, doesn’t make them true. Wake up.
Also, you do not have a clue how historical evidence works. You just ignore it. How serious can I take such ignorance. By your definition ANY historical event could be made up.
I tried to explain it to you. I am not a perfect debater. I at least try to come to a meaningful conclusion instead of repeating same arguments and ignoring the facts presented by your oponents.
Yet, you still get personal and say that I am dumb. At least TRY to have a meaningful debate instead of childish jabbering.
Okay then, if you can find any better documented fable from history than the non-fictional story of Jesus, please link them.
You classifie the bible as fiction based on pure ignorance. You have not given me any solid evidence why the bible is just as fictional as fairy tailes. I think this is very retarded. You have no idea whatoever how a debate works and you keep repaeting the same arguments and you just ignore the rest.
It is very childish to get personal.
@Ritsaart – Wow, you’re pretty dumb aren’t you? What part of “just because it’s written on a piece of paper doesn’t prove anything” do you not understand? There are fables that were written thousands of years ago by many different people. Does that make them true because they were written down by more than one person? You keep digging your hole deeper and embarrassing yourself even more. I feel bad for people like you. Without your bible, you have nothing in life. So sad.
We have more than 1 witness. If a persian god was walking around the earth according to a wall-painting, that doesn’t say much. But if for example a Roman writer documents the same event seperately, it is more likely. If then also 4 other, independent writers saw it, it is highly likely to have some form of truth. I do not see such evidence for fairy tailes or pagan gods. The bible is not just 1 book. It is A LOT of books put together.
That is not what I am saying. I am not saying that if anyone writes something down it must be true. You miss the point. If we would follow your logic, we cannot trust any historical account because it could all be made up. That is not how it works. We got a lot of historical documents testifying of Jesus life in AND outside of the New Testament.
I believe Jesus was resurrected. I can base this one historcal accounts. You denie this fact based on your own conviction.
@Ritsaart – The persians write about their “gods”, as did the egyptians. Some even talk about cat gods. Since this is “historic proof” as it was “witnessed” and written about thousands of years ago, it must be true, right? Wow, if we used your logic, I could write a story and proclaim it being true because I have “historic proof” because I wrote something on a pice of paper. I still find it hilarious that you actually using a “historical proof” claim. You are just embarrassing yourself.
@Ritsaart – “Historical proof” doesn’t even make sense. Do you seriously think it does? To be able to prove something, you must be able to test, observe and repeat to establish proof. There is “historical proof” that the world is flat, does that mean it is, just because people wrote about it years ago? All you have is words, written by man from thousands of years ago. That is not proof, it’s a story and whether or not it is true, you cannot prove.
Another thing: Scientifical proof is different from historical proof.
The bible is a historic accurate account. We have more historical prove of Jesus life then of other facts of ANCIENT history. Yet, most atheists treat evidence differently. They will deny the historic record of the life of Jesus while they will aprove of other less documented facts.
If we would just treat evidence the same, it would be a much more fruitful discussion but comparing the bible to fairytailes is just stupid.
No, I think you are talking about proving God excists, I am talking about the fact that Jesus lived, was crucified and was risen. If we can prove this, we can in fact prove that God excists.
You said the bible is fiction. If you can give me very good prove of this, I will look at it. But the reason you give is because God does nbot excists, just like tinkerbell. However, do you give any proof, no. You just base your whole statement on own conviction. How serious can I take this?
