Sometime between 183? and now I have to presume a message was delivered to the LDS prophet(s) that absolutely forbade continued polygamy.
It’s not so long ago–what year was that message delivered and how was it further communicated to LDS’s? Were there any co-incidental occurrences that hastened or accompanied the change?
That was then, this is now. Polygamy is no longer practiced by the people of God, in other words, God is not commanding it now, so it is a sin NOW if anyone is practicing this.
But anciently it was not a sin, not if God is having prophets say THUS SAITH THE LORD.
In the Old Testament GOD GAVE WIVES to David through prophet Nathan.
2 Sam 12:7 ¶ And Nathan said to David, …Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;
8 And I gave thee thy masters house, and thy masters wives into thy bosom,
There you go. THUS SAITH THE LORD.
There are many who are hinting that polygamy was evil. Abraham was bad, etc. But the BIBLE SAYS that THUS SAITH THE LORD, David’s wiveS were given to him.
