When I looked at the video info and saw only one name, I thought I wouldn’t like it but GODDAMN Mike Nelson is a funny mofo; even all by himself.

There are two Reefer Madnesses out. the first is in black and white, and meant to be serious. the second is one that someone did a recoloring of it and that’s this one. it’s the one you’re supposed to watch high, since it’s even funnier than the first!
Loved your commentary…do you do stand up..if not you should.Was shown this film back in 1974 as a warning,at school,about the dangers of taking drugs !Mind you that was in Scotland u.k. like we could afford weed,it was glue-sniffin back then.

That blond guy is Pete Smith from all those funny shorts! I bet Mike must have mentioned that in the full RiffTrax.
If you’ll notice, at 2:09, the screen suddenly shows a green number 4 for just a split second
Mike’s the funniest, no question; but having him Riff all by himself just doesn’t work that much for me. He sounds like he’s just … talking to himself. Yeah, I know he is, but still, he works better with a partner.
The green tint in the smoke seems to give the joints a more sinister feeling.
Mike calling someone “batshit insane” is better than sex.
We had to watch this in my psych class…it’s really so terrible that it isn’t even funny (without riffs of course)
colorization
I remember watching this movie and laughing my ass off… I was, of course, high as shit…

The original film was in black and white, this is the colourized version. I’m not sure of the actually technique used but I read somewhere that the company that colourized the film purposely chose vivid colours to highlight the over the top, campy nature of the film.
I love the color in the video, the green smoke and all.. Looks so colorful yet dark and grey..looks great. anybody know the technical term??
Actually, at one point in the full riff Mike says “The early Kramer prototype.”
I’m surprised no one mentioned that the pianist looks like Krammer.
