Senator Nick Xenophon has vowed not to give up on his quest to bring the controversial Church of Scientology to task over tax exemptions.
Scientology had been variously accused of criminal behaviour, coercing abortions, stalking, transcending child labour laws and unconscionable treatment of members who were charged hundreds of thousands of dollars for their courses, he said.

Blaine Milam, 20, is facing the death penalty for the December 2008 beating death of 13-month-old Amora Bain Carson.
Milam and his fiancee, Jessica Carson, are charged with beating the toddler 20 times with a hammer while allegedly attempting to perform an exorcism on the little girl.

Jurors heard compelling evidence Monday from a bite expert who testified Blaine Milam could not be ruled out as the contributor of the majority of bite marks on 13-month-old Amora Carson.
Forensic odontologist Robert Williams testified his area of expertise has been used to identify serial killers, Hurricane Katrina, 9/11 and Branch Davidian victims when other methods failed.

A month before he stands trial on fraud charges, Ed Purvis — the owner of a Christian non-profit accused of bilking millions out of churchgoers in Arizona and 12 other states — is now seeking an expert’s endorsement to promote a gold-mine project to investors.
He is scheduled to stand trial June 14 in Superior Court on 43 counts of criminal fraud and theft charges related to his non-profit company Nakami Chi Group Ministries International, which authorities describe as a Ponzi scheme.

Belgian authorities are analysing a video containing threats to attack the country and other European states if they enforce a ban on full face veils, government officials said on Thursday.
The video showed veiled women, some armed with guns, armed men and children carrying weapons and ammunition.
